CAPT. JUSTIN D. SMITH, CAP

Capt. Justin Smith, Director of Cadet Programs, Alabama Wing Civil Air Patrol, is responsible for overseeing the development of the state-wide cadet program. His responsibilities include planning activities to provide training at the state level, as well as assisting and providing oversight to subordinate units to ensure that they are able to effectively provide their cadets with the highest level of training possible.

Capt. Smith is a 2005 graduate of Auburn University. He is an 9 year member of CAP, beginning his career as a cadet. As a cadet, he staffed several large activities and served on the Cadet Advisory Council. He is a 2002 graduate of Cadet Officer School.

Capt. Smith transitioned into the Senior Member Program in May of 2003. Upon this transition, he became the Cadet Programs Development Officer, a position he held until January of 2005. In January of 2005, he became interim Commander of the Lee County Composite Squadron (now Auburn Composite Squadron). He served in this capacity until August of 2005. Upon completion of this assignment, he returned as Cadet Programs Development Officer. In March of 2006, Capt. Smith became Director of Cadet Programs for the Alabama Wing.  He currently is Senior rated in the Cadet Program specialty track.

Capt. Smith has also been active in other missions of CAP. He holds several mission ratings and has been deployed several times in a disaster relief capacity. He is a 2003 graduate of the National Emergency Services Academy Mission Base Staff School (now Incident Command Systems School).

Capt. Smith Currently resides in Birmingham, AL.  He has been employed with the Alabama Emergency Management Agency since  2006.
